Work Experience

2015 – Present, Lieutenant with the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division
Responsible for the day to day supervision of the Criminal Investigation Division to include oversight of all investigations conducted. This division includes the Vice, Narcotics, and Gang Investigations Unit, Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Evidence and Property Control Unit, Sex Offender Investigative Unit, and Warrant Service Unit. Conducts Internal Investigations at the request of the Sheriff.

2014 – 2015, Deputy Director, NC State Bureau of Investigation
Responsible for the daily operations of all divisions within the State Bureau of Investigations. These divisions included Field Operations, Special Operations, Administrative Support and Professional Standards. Directed budget and project development related to strategic planning and agency goals and objectives. Worked with the State Legislature on matters related to criminal law, agency budget, and current law enforcement issues. Retired from the State Bureau of Investigation in 2015.

2011-2014, Deputy Assistant Director, Special Operations Division
Responsible for management oversight of specialized units within the Special Operations Division, policy development, and crisis management.  Direct supervision of the Special Services Unit and all of its programs to include Clandestine Laboratory Response, Special Response Team, Bomb Squad, Crisis Negotiators Team, and the Criminal Apprehension and Technical Program. Grant Management of Federal Homeland Security and Governor’s Crime Commission Grants to include equipment acquisition and program implementation.

2006-2011, Special Agent in Charge, Special Services Unit
Supervised eleven agents and one administrative secretary assigned to the Special Services Unit.  Responsible for the Clandestine Laboratory Response Program, Special Response Team, Bomb Squad, and the Criminal Apprehension and Technical Program. Responsible for the Bureau’s Terrorism Response Capabilities and grant management of Federal Homeland Security Grants and Governor’s Crime Commission Grants related to drug manufacturing.

2001-2006, Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Diversion and Environmental Crimes Unit
Served as the Clandestine Laboratory Response Program Coordinator. Supervised six agents assigned to respond to drug laboratories throughout the state, coordinated training, selected and purchased equipment, managed grants, and initiated state-wide awareness and educational programs.

1999-2001, Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Southern Piedmont District Supervised Criminal and Drug agents assigned to Cabarrus and Rowan Counties.
Served as the District Training Coordinator, Marijuana Eradication Coordinator and Western Squad Leader for the Special Response Team.
