Order of the Long Leaf Pine, 2015

 Among the most prestigious awards conferred by the Governor of North Carolina is The Order of the Long Leaf Pine. It is awarded to persons for exemplary service to the State of North Carolina and their communities that is above and beyond the call of duty and which has made a significant impact and strengthened North Carolina.

Robert J. Eury Memorial Award, 2014

 In May 2014, Van Shaw was the recipient of the Robert J. Eury Memorial Award, which honors an remarkable law enforcement officer with at least 20 years of experience. Shaw has worked in Cabarrus County and for the State of North Carolina since 1987. As Cabarrus County Sheriff, Shaw will continue to demonstrate his devotion and commitment to this community and his profession.
